November 2010
The surprise of reading that there was a person with an interest in R.A.F. Cranage still hasn’t worn off.
I was at 61 MU for 18 months from 1952 - 53 as part of a group of Ground Wireless Engineers (ex Locking) who spent the rest of National Service disposing of surplus equipment at Bi-monthly auction sales.
Contact with members of 20 P.T.C. was mostly was mostly at Pay Parades etc.
C.O. was Sq. Leader H.V.W. Cleobury-Jones who once read us the riot act when a litter pick of the P.T.C. area was proposed.
I have lots of other memories and hope that you have more contacts, and hope to hear from you again.
Other names from the past are Ron McCoy who stayed at Locking in the Band and arrived at Cranage late. Brian Miller (Longsight), Ken Crook from Smethwick, Arthur Woodhams from Sevenoaks.
Yours Sincerely,
Jim Magnall
